Join IAFP for Listening Sessions with Legal Experts on Idaho's Abortion Ban

Idaho’s abortion “trigger law” is set to go into effect in Idaho in late August. The law is a total abortion ban with limited exceptions for the life of the mother and in cases of rape or incest. But what does this really mean for providers when delivering care to patients seeking reproductive health care in Idaho? The answers are complicated and unclear.

The Idaho Academy of Family Physicians is working with a team of legal experts to hear your questions and develop guidance. Please join us for one of two separate listening sessions to share your questions with legal experts and engage in dialogue about the implications of Idaho’s trigger law. Attorneys Wendy Olson of Stoel Rives, Kim Clark of Legal Voice and Peg Dougherty, Deputy General Counsel for St. Luke’s Health System, will be present to listen to your questions. The goal of this event is for these legal experts to hear your concerns and provide thoughtful feedback to support you at this complicated time. Your input will then be used to develop carefully considered written guidance for our members following the event. Working together, we hope this will help you better prepare for pending changes to reproductive health care in Idaho.
